Important Note: Training exercises should be carried out in your test system. Do not create test data in a Live System.
The test system can be identified by one or more of the following:
- A different coloured header bar; normally bright pink or red.
- The address includes the word "test"
- There is a reference to UserTest emails in the header
The Test System is accessed on the address https://xxx.test.fbo.one/ , with 'xxx' replaced with your client identifier, or by selecting the test system link in the menu of your Live System.
In this exercise, you'll create a new aircraft registration in FBO One. We can use the default debtor and operator created in the creating a new contact exercise.
Goal of this exercise:
- To be able to create a new aircraft registration.
- To understand how most information is derived from the aircraft type and can be overridden.
Prerequisites:
- Complete the Front Office Exercise - Creating New Contacts
Exercise overview:
- Create a registration 'XY-XXX' for an A380 operated by Amsterdam Software Aircraft.
- Assign the registration to an order.
- Change the MTOW of this registration
Step by step:
Let’s assume the company that we created in the Creating New Contacts exercise owns an aircraft.
Navigate to Add Aircraft Registration in the main menu.
- In the next screen, you can enter the registration (use XY-XXX).
- For the type pick A380.
- Select the just created company as the default debtor and operator.
- The default trip support provider can be left blank.
- Probably one of the most important fields is the MTOW.
- You can leave it blank: FBO One will use the default weight of the type for this registration.
- Its possible that the aircraft has a modification that affects the MTOW, so if you have different information for this specific registration, you can enter a weight that will override that of the type.
- The weight will be used in automatic price calculation for handling and usually things like parking fees.
- Save the registration with a blank MTOW first.
- After saving, the details page for the new registration is displayed.
- The bottom section (details tab) of the aircraft registration screen shows there is no registration-specific MTOW, so FBO One will use the MTOW of the type.
- Now 'edit registration' again, and enter a specific MTOW.
- FBO One will automatically assign a handling category to this aircraft.
- Handling categories are MTOW groups used for pricing, specifically for airport and handling fees.
- Now increase or decrease the registration specific MTOW so that your registration moves into another category.
In FBO One, there is a way to put an aircraft in a different handling category.
- To do this, go to the ‘Specific handling categories’ tab, and set a specific handling category.
- A new handling category can be created by clicking the 'Add new' button.
- Normally this change would be made in conjunction with a change in handling group pricing structure.
- This action overrides the handling category based on weight and therefore the prices of services that are based on the handling category.
- Services charged by weight will still use the weight of the aircraft.
Extra Practise:
- Try to edit and rename the registration XY-XXX.
- Note the warning and the implications of incorrectly renaming a valid registration.
- Rename the registration to something memorable for the Front Office Exercise - Creating orders
- Create 2 more registrations to be used in the Front Office Exercise - Creating orders.
- Use different Aircraft Types
- Both Operated by a Debtor you created in the Front Office Exercise - Creating New Contacts
- Just like in the new contact exercise, add a bulletin board message for one of the registrations
- "Please arrange security access for the VIP Driver. Contact on 555-1345625".
- Mark it as important, so it is clear when the registration is added to an Order.
