Introduction:
A child product is a product that has a parent and therefore is not at the top of the product tree. In the Aiport Fees product tree example below, the Landing fees, Navigation fee, Night surcharge, Departing passenger fees, Services, and Parking are the child products.
Each is a product in its own right and can have independent settings and price agreements but in this case they are grouped within the Airport Fees charges. The advantages are:
- Grouping of products on the handling order under a parent header (for instance Airport Fees)
- Hiding products on the handling order while showing a total price for the group
- Setting up discounts and surcharges on a single product
- Setting up discounts and surcharges on a group of products
- A child products can assume a quantity from its parent
Adding a Child Product:
- Identify or create the product with the required settings and price agreements you wish to add as a child for the parent.
- use the main search box or navigate to the 'products' screen in the main menu to find and select the parent product.
- Select the 'Child products' tab.
- Select 'Add new'
- Select the FBO location that the child will apply to. If multiple, repeat this process for each.
- Use the child product drop-down to select the correct product.
- Auto-add option
- Checked - The child product will be added to the order if the parent is added.
- Unchecked - The product will be added if there are valid auto-add product settings or if added manually in the order screen.
- Note: If checked, a child product may be added that has no valid charge for the order. e.g "Parking hourly after 24hrs" for a short turn. The product can be hidden on the handling screen and invoice if the price is '0' using the product visibility settings.
- Select 'Save'
Removing a Child Product:
This process removes the link between the parent and the child and the child will no longer appear in the product tree. This process does not delete the child product.
- use the main search box or navigate to the 'products' screen in the main menu to find and select the parent product.
- Select the 'Child products' tab.
- Check the box for the child you wish to remove.
- Check 'Confirm Delete' and select 'Delete'
