When you are adding a new product, it can be advantageous to duplicate an existing product that shares similar functionality or behavior settings to the ones you need. This approach allows you to leverage the work that has already been done and make any necessary modifications or adjustments to meet the specific requirements of the new product.
Example Scenario:
The FBO has one GPU product called 'GPU' but wants independent pricing for its GPU service depending on whether it is a DC or AC GPU.
- The existing product will be renamed from the 'Edit this product' link to 'GPU AC' for 'AC Ground Power'.
- From the product details screen, select the 'copy this product' link, which will open the 'edit product details' screen for a copy of the existing product.
- In this example we are going to change the name to 'GPU DC' with the description 'DC Ground Power".
- Review the other product settings and update as required. The following article describes each of the product options. Add Product - add/edit screen settings
-
Important: The new product will adopt all of the configuration settings from the original product, including child product associations and price agreements. These settings will need to be updated to reflect the desired configuration.
- After updating the settings, the next step in our example is to go to the 'Order Layout / Quick Products' menu and include the newly added GPU product.
- The two GPU products are now available to add in the Order screen.
